Closed Captioning with LiveStreaming
Closed captioning in eScribe provides real-time text displayed alongside meeting video or recordings, allowing viewers to read what is being said during a meeting. In accessibility standards, captions are a text version of spoken dialogue and relevant audio, synchronized with the video.
- Captions are generated automatically during live streaming and stored with the recorded video.
- They help ensure meetings are accessible to users who are Deaf or hard of hearing, as well as anyone watching in sound‑restricted environments.
Closed Captioning is available to be added on to all Livestreaming Features including:
- Live Streaming Lite
- Live Streaming Youtube/Vimeo
- LiveStreaming Plus
How to Locate Closed Captioning
Closed Captioning on Published Videos
Published videos displayed on the iFrame (Publishing Page) that include closed captioning will show a CC icon in the bottom-right corner of the video player. This icon indicates that captions are available.
Captions are typically user-controlled, meaning viewers may need to turn them on for the captions to appear.
Closed captioning is enabled per individual user, and there is no visible indicator to other participants or viewers when someone has captions turned on.
Switching Closed Captioning Languages
To switch between French, English or Spanish, click the CC icon and select the desired language from the menu.
