What are rolling vacancies:

Rolling vacancies allow you to keep a vacancy open over time so you can continuously collect applications and reuse them for future openings, instead of reposting a vacancy each time a seat becomes available.

This approach is especially helpful for boards or committees that:

  • Experience frequent turnover
  • Anticipate upcoming term expirations
  • Want to maintain a pool of interested applicants

How rolling vacancies work in the system:

  • A vacancy can remain open even when there are currently no seats to fill.
  • Applications submitted while the vacancy is open are retained for future consideration.
  • You do not need to recreate or repost the vacancy every time a new seat opens.

Creating a rolling vacancy with a General Board

Administrators can create a rolling vacancy by using the following the first option:

1. Creating a dedicated Board tailored for General Recruitment ( i.e. General Recruitment Board) along with  General Vacancy with a large number of open positions attached to the General Recruitment Board

Creating a Future Position for a Specific Board

In the event a general position for a specific Board is to posted,  Administrators would need to create a general vacancy for a specific Board as it will appear on that Board.
