Open DevTools

  1. Open Chrome and go to the page where you want to capture network activity.
  2. Open DevTools:
    • Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + I or F12
    • macOS: ⌥ + ⌘ + I or ⌘ + Option + I

2) Select the Network tab

  1. In the DevTools top panel, click the Network tab (it’s the 4th tab).
  2. If you don’t see it, the tabs may be collapsed in a » menu — click that and choose Network.

3) Enable Preserve log

  1. In the Network toolbar (top of the Network panel) check the box labeled Preserve log.
    • This keeps requests recorded across page reloads and navigations (useful for capturing redirects or multi-page flows).

4) Reproduce the activity

  1. With Preserve log enabled, refresh the page (F5 or Ctrl+R / ⌘+R) or perform the action you need to capture (login, click a button, file upload, etc.).
  2. Watch requests populate the Network table.
  3. You can now click on the activity that you were trying to do.

7) Export the HAR (HTTP Archive)

1. Look for the export icon and save the file within your downloads folder

8) Uncheck Preserve log

  • After exporting, go back to the Network toolbar and uncheck Preserve log to restore default behavior (so future navigations clear the network panel automatically).
