Adding a Motion (Vote) - Field Explanations

Go to Main Navigation Bar > Meetings > select a meeting > click on an agenda item > click on Minutes tab > click on the Add drop down menu > Add Motion

This article explains the fields found when adding a motion (vote).

Field 

Explanation
Motion Number This field may have been partially populated with default text as configured in the meeting profile. 

 

Motion Label

 

If labels are turned on for agendas/minutes, a default label will be applied by the meeting profile. This default text will appear here and can be edited as desired. The Motion Label appears before the text in the Decision field.

Template

 

User can select a pre-configured template from the drop-down. Text from the selected template will automatically populate the textbox, and can be modified as required. More information about configuring motion templates can be found here.

Motion Text

The contents of the motion. E.g. THAT Council accepts the report for information.

Moved

Select present voting attendee who will move the motion.

Seconded

Select present voting attendee who will second the motion.

Result

Choose the Result of this motion, i.e. Carried, Tabled, or Defeated.

Voting Group

The specific Vote Area that should vote on this vote (if applicable) (default value is All). If a vote area other than All is selected, not all users will appear in the moved/seconded dropdowns, or voting screens (depending on their configured Vote Area in the Attendee Group settings).

Vote Type

This determines what kind of Vote is being captured in the meeting. Vote Types include:

  • Majority (Present)
  • Majority (Voted)
  • Majority (Membership)
  • 2/3 (Present)
  • 2/3 (Voted)
  • 2/3 (Membership)
  • 3/4 (Present)
  • 3/4 (Voted)
  • 3/4 (Membership)
  • Unanimous (Present)
  • Unanimous (Voted)
  • Unanimous (Membership)

Optionally, select whether this Vote should be Recorded, a Secret Ballot, or Weighted (Weighted must be configured in the attendee group).

Consent 

Whether the vote is a consent vote. This option is available only on a parent category if sub-items exist.
